Conference and Events Help Community Make Big Change.

Over the last few years, Manchester Metropolitan University Conference and Events team have been helping to raise money for Big Change MCR by donating £1 of each delegate rate they receive to the fund.

This year, despite the circumstances of the pandemic, we are delighted to say that we have still managed to raise £2904.

Louise Milne, Conference and Event Coordinator, had this to say about the donation:

“One of the things that made me want to work at Manchester Met was all the work they do with sustainability and the community, so I’m really pleased that even in a year like this one, we’ve still managed to raise a significant amount of money for Big Change MCR. I feel really proud to work for a University that gets so involved with things like this.”

Raise Money, Raise Awareness, Get Involved!

Manchester Met Conference and Events set out to raise awareness of this valuable campaign by actively supporting the Big Change Fund – Manchester’s alternative Giving Campaign https://streetsupport.net/manchester/bigchangemcr/. The Conference Office’s commitment to Big Change will continue this year, with the addition that James Charnock, Sales and Marketing Officer has now joined the fund’s panel:

“I realised during the first lockdown that we wouldn’t be able to donate the same amount of money this year to Big Change MCR, but I also realised I had a bit more time to be able to get involved more that way. It’s been a big learning curve, but it’s very rewarding to work with a group of people who are so committed to ending homelessness in Manchester, I’m in awe of them all!”

The Conference Office are now hoping that as more conferences and events are able to happen once again, we can build on the fund and awareness raising to make sure that as people to return to Manchester, we continue to work as a community to tackle issues that affect us all.
