Manchester Metropolitan Welcomes Alternative Futures and Popular Protest

Alternative Futures and Popular Protest will be taking place again this year from the 10th to 12th of April 2017 in Geoffrey Manton.

The conference, which is now in its 21st year, looks at protest and social movements from a range of perspectives, and is well attended every year.

Conference Organiser Mike Tyldesley, Senior Lecturer in Politics and Public Services, had this to say about the conference:

“Alternative Futures and Popular Protest has been running since 1995, and this year’s conference promises to have a large attendance, with delegates booked in from a wide range of countries, as well as the UK.

The conference is a forum for the discussion of social movements taken in a broad sense, and the key themes of the conference are determined by what is happening in the streets, with the issues that are powering protest around the world being reflected in the papers submitted by our delegates.

Over the years Alternative Futures and Popular Protest has established itself as one of the really important forums for the discussion of these issues, and has a reputation worldwide that is reflected in the geographical diversity of its delegates.”

The Conference and Events team look forward to welcoming delegates to the university.

Registration is open until Friday 31st March. Please click here to register.
