Brooks Building nominated for Best Sustainable Venue at CHS Awards 2016

The Conference and Events team at Manchester Met are delighted to have been shortlisted for “Best Sustainable Venue” at the Conference and Hospitality Show Awards 2016. This award nomination follows up the Highly Commended Award picked up by the team at last year’s CHS Awards in the Best Unusual Event Space category.

The Brooks Building at Manchester Met was put forward for submission due to its aspirations of being a zero rated site for energy, water and waste. This, alongside the Sustainability Trail at the Birley site, which features wetland areas, a community orchard and wildflower areas, puts Brooks at the forefront of environmental and social sustainability.

The Conference and Hospitality Show is an annual exhibition for businesses and venues outside of the M25 and was this year hosted at the First Direct Arena in Leeds. This year, the Conference and Events team at Manchester Met shared a stand with the Unique Venues of Manchester consortium, alongside the Museum of Science and Industry and the People’s History Museum.

The CHS Awards ceremony takes place at the Mercure Hotel, Manchester, on 25 May; where Manchester Met is pitted against a strong shortlist including Lancaster Conferences, Manchester University Conferences and Venues and Newcastle United.
